Accreditation
The EMLE programme has been recognized by several accreditation authorities as an outstanding educational concept. Some of these accreditations are listed below.
Accreditation by the EU
The European Master in Law and Economics (EMLE) has been recognized as an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course, both under the first edition of Erasmus Mundus (2004-2008) as under Erasmus Mundus II (2009-2013). The Programme was very positively evaluated by a panel of independent academic experts and chosen by the Selection Committee out of 128 proposals. In the first round of Action 1, only 19 Masters Programmes received the Erasmus Mundus label (of which five Programmes started only in 2005-2006). The Master in Law and Economics is the only Masters Course in Economics and one of the two Erasmus Mundus Courses in the legal discipline. In 2002, the EMLE Programme was already selected to take part in the Joint Masters Project of the European University Association (together with 10 other networks).
Accreditation by NVAO and ZEvA
In August 2004, the EMLE programme in Rotterdam and Ghent was accredited by the NVAO, the Dutch Flemish Accreditation Agency. The NVAO is the official agency in the Netherlands and Flanders to certify that a programme meets the quality criteria as formulated by the Dutch and Flemish government.
In February 2005 the EMLE programme in Hamburg was accredited by ZEvA, the Central Accreditation Agency of the Federal State of Lower Saxony. The ZEvA is one of the official agencies in Germany to certify that a programme fulfils the national German quality standards set by the German Conference of the Ministers of Education. The ZEvA is a member of the European Network for Qualitiy Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), and participates in their Joint Quality Initiative which has developed evaluation criteria for Bachelor and Master degrees at the European level.
